It is a historical town situated on the Chandigarh-Patiala Highway. It is renowned for its many temples and is a good place to visit for the religiously inclined. The language spoken here is Punjabi and many religious fairs are organized in temples during the Shravan month.


Another important tourist place in Patiala, it is a Municipal Council in Patiala District. A very religious place, it has a lot of temples and gurudwaras. Some places worth mentioning are Gurudwara Thada Sahib, New Gaushala, Panj Peer Mazar, Shri Sai Baba Mandir and many more.


This town also has rich history attached to it. Though it was previously under Mughal rule, Baba Ala Singh got it under his control in 1748.
